Archery Instruction

At this time, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting classes at out club grounds on the following dates:

July 20th, 1:00 p.m. (FULL)
July 20th, 2:00 p.m. (FULL)
August 3rd, 2:00 p.m. (FULL)
August 24th, 2:00 p.m. (FULL)
September 7th, 2:00 p.m. (FULL)

The cost will be $20 per person, and the class will last for one hour. We will provide both recurve and compound bows, but if you have your own equipment, we recommend that you bring it along with you; it's always better to learn on the bow you'll be shooting from now on!

Space in these classes is limited to eight people so that each archer can receive personal attention from our dedicated coaches, and due to high interest, classes will fill up quickly. Please contact Kristina Miller to reserve a space in class. If the classes are full, you may be placed on a wait list.

Please DO NOT attend classes unless you have signed up and received verification from us. Space is limited, and any archers who did not register will be turned away.

If you are interested instead in private coaching, please let us know. Include whether you are interested in recurve/traditional or compound, and we will put you in contact with the proper coach.

We appreciate your patience and support while we work to provide these classes, and hope to see you there!

Hunt Groups

The Fairfax County Archery Program Qualifications have begun. If you have not qualified in the past two years you will need to re-certify.

Here is the schedule for NORVA qualifying sessions:

Howard: July 17, 6-9pm
July 21, 11am-2pm
July 24, 6-9pm

Billy: July 13, 11am - ?

Joe: July 18, 5-7pm
July 23, 5-7pm
Aug 2, 8-10am
Aug 3, 5-7pm

All qualifications will be done at the broadhead range at NORVA. Practice broadheads will be allowed in substitution of actual broadheads as long as it has the same characteristics at the killing broadhead. Toxic Broadheads are allowed, but qualifiers using Toxic broadheads will need to provide their own target block. NORVA will not allow Toxic Broadheads to be used on the NORVA broadhead range. This schedule will be posted on NORVA's website and with the FCAP program forum online.

Qualifications are as follows:

Three consecutive shots made with broadheads at 20yrds. All shots are to be within an 8" target (provided at time of qualification). ALL SHOTS MUST BE WITHIN THE 8" CIRCLE OF THE TARGET! Each shooter has three opportunities to make qualifications before not being allowed to participated in this years season.

Good Luck!

Archery Instruction

Want to Learn?

We at Northern Virginia Archers are pleased to announce that we will begin hosting beginner archery courses and offering private instruction. We are tentatively looking to July to begin our sessions. If you are interested in more information about our classes or one-on-one instruction, please contact Kristina Miller.

We always welcome more coaches willing to volunteer their time to the club, as well. If you are certified with the NFAA or USA Archery as a level one or higher instructor, you are eligible to coach with us! All coaches must have passed a background check with USA Archery or the NFAA, and must have taken the SafeSport training seminar. Contact Kristina if you'd like to volunteer.
